Our New TV Ad and Press Release
Washington, D.C. - The lobbying affiliate of Club for Growth, one of the nation's leading free-market advocacy organizations, today launched a new television advertising campaign that makes the case for personal Social Security accounts. The ads call on undecided Republicans Rep. Joe Schwarz of Michigan, Sen. Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island and Rep. Sherwood Boehlert of New York to support personal Social Security accounts.
"These Republican legislators need to understand that Social Security is a vital part of economic growth," said former Congressman Pat Toomey, President of the Club for Growth. "Too much is at stake for them to remain undecided. President Bush and the Republican Congress have a mandate to reform Social Security and personal accounts are the best means to that end.
"This ad is a gentle message about the virtues of personal accounts and a blunt message that we are watching their actions on this issue with great interest."
The narrator of the ad says: "For the Greatest Generation, it will always be there; For the Baby Boomers, too. But younger workers will pay hundreds of thousands into Social Security. Without reform, they'll get just a fraction back when they retire. Personal savings accounts will give their generation the opportunity to save for a secure retirement-something to own and give to their children."
The viewers are then urged to call their Congressman or Senator and urge them to support personal accounts.
The television ad will begin running next week.
