Complying with the Tax Code

How complex is the tax code? This article states that Americans spent 6.6 BILLION hours filing their 2004 tax returns. That's BILLION, not million. Put into perspective: bq. 6,600,000,000 hours equals 275,000,000 days (x/24) bq. 275,000,000 days equals 752,909 years (x/365.25) What was going on 752,909 years ago? Man's ancestor, Homo Erectus, was roaming the earth. He (it?) still had another 250,000 years to go before the invention of fire. Can you imagine if we put all that time to better use? Sheesh...
