A Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Idea

Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano thinks she has a great idea. As a member of a national "task force", here's what she's proposing: Through higher taxes ($325 billion worth), more money will leave your community and be sent to Washington where a large portion of it will be chewed up and wasted on bureaucracy and mismanagement. After that ugly process, the remaining funds (plus borrowed money to fill in the gap) will be sent RIGHT BACK to your community so that schools can somehow provide a better education for your area. There will be no school choice. There will be no reduction of government intrusion (quite the opposite). And the teachers' union will almost certainly grow in size. Napolitano even has the temerity to call this "reform" even though it does "not address fundamental challenges facing the education system." LOUD sirens should be sounded if this plan makes any legislative progress at all.
