Club for Growth Hails RSC’s American Taxpayer Bill of Rights
Washington - Club for Growth President Pat Toomey hailed the Republican Study Committee’s (RSC) American Taxpayer Bill of Rights as “a bold step forward in the ongoing fight to protect America’s overtaxed workers and promote greater economic growth.”
The American Taxpayer Bill of Rights seeks to restore fiscal discipline to the federal government by establishing four fundamental taxpayer rights:
- Taxpayers have a right to have a federal government that does not grow beyond their ability to pay for it.
- Taxpayers have a right to receive back each dollar that they entrust to the government for their retirement.
- Taxpayers have a right to expect the government to balance the budget without having their taxes raised.
- Taxpayers have a right to a simple, fair tax code they can understand.
“The Republican Study Committee deserves high praise for proposing and pushing this measure,” Mr. Toomey said. “It is reassuring to know that there are still members of Congress willing to fight for America’s hardworking taxpayers.”
“We are proud of the work RSC members are doing to protect taxpayers, promote economic growth, and curtail government spending,” Mr. Toomey continued. “American taxpayers would be better off if more congressional members followed in their lead.”
