Big Morning in the Senate Today

Let's do some Senate housekeeping. Tom Coburn offered several anti-pork amendments last night. A handful of them will be voted on en bloc around 9:30am today. I'll post the results once I get them. As I previously wrote, the Senate voted 82-14 to kill one of his amendments yesterday that would remove all pork projects from the bill and use the savings on bridge repair.

The Senate also had time last night to vote on another more narrow Coburn amendment that would remove just the pork projects that would fund bicycle paths, and instead use that money for bridge repair. Again, no dice. The porkers in the Senate won that vote, 80-18. Here are the 18 Senators who have a better understanding of how to prioritize federal tax dollars.

Allard (R-CO)
Bennett (R-UT)
Bunning (R-KY)
Burr (R-NC)
Chambliss (R-GA)
Coburn (R-OK)
Cornyn (R-TX)
Crapo (R-ID)
DeMint (R-SC)
Graham (R-SC)
Grassley (R-IA)
Inhofe (R-OK)
Isakson (R-GA)
Kyl (R-AZ)
Lott (R-MS)
Martinez (R-FL)
Sessions (R-AL)
Vitter (R-LA)

Also, Senator Jim DeMint will be offering an amendment this morning to waive the Davis-Bacon mandate from all bridge repair authorized in this bill. The Club's key vote alert on it is here.
