Doing Business with People You Hate
Craig Newmark points to a great Milton Friedman quote:
"The great virtue of a free market is that it enables people who hate each other, or who are from vastly different religious or ethnic backgrounds, to cooperate economically. Government intervention can’t do that. Politics exacerbates and magnifies differences."
This is one aspect of the free market that I absolutely adore. You know that what Friedman is describing is playing itself out in real life all over the globe. Especially places like eBay. Consider it "Peace Through Commerce".
