Club for Growth PAC Endorses Woody Jenkins in LA-06

Washington – Today, the Club for Growth PAC endorsed Woody Jenkins in the open seat in Louisiana’s Sixth Congressional District.

Woody Jenkins has a long record of fighting against tax increases. As a state representative for nearly thirty years, Jenkins never voted for a tax increase and was a leader in fighting for limited government and ending wasteful spending. He has been an especially powerful foe of burdensome government regulations on Louisiana businesses.

Jenkins’ main Republican opponent, Paul Sawyer, the former chief of staff for outgoing Rep. Richard Baker, is not even pretending to run on fiscal responsibility. In a mini-debate with Jenkins last week, Sawyer vigorously defended earmarks and criticized John McCain for opposing them. In contrast, Jenkins objected to the current earmark system, agreeing with McCain that the wasteful system must end. The Democrats in this race are dyed-in-the-wool economic liberals who would likely join Nancy Pelosi in her tax-and-spend frenzy if elected.

“Over his many years in political office, Woody Jenkins has proven himself to be the real deal when it comes to standing up for taxpayers and fighting big-government politicians,” said Club for Growth President Pat Toomey. “If elected to Congress, Woody will be a leader in fighting for tax cuts, lower spending, and free-market policies to help advance economic growth in this country.”
