DeMint Amendment Whip Count
Below is a whip count (last updated on March 13, 2008) of where several Senators stand on Jim DeMint's amendment to ban earmarks for one year. If you are aware of how other Senators plan to vote, please email me at aroth at clubforgrowth dot org. Senate offices can be reached through the Capitol Hill switchboard at (202) 224-3121. A vote on this is expected sometime this week, perhaps as early as Thursday morning.
UPDATE: You may remember this similar vote. A little over a year ago, DeMint offered an amendment that would strengthen earmark reform. The vote was a motion to kill his proposal. Amazingly enough, the motion failed (a "yea" vote is a bad vote).
