Secret Service Protection

In 1962, a law authorized the Secret Service to give former Presidents and their spouses lifetime protection. However, in 1997, Congress changed the law so that former Presidents only receive 10 years of protection after leaving office. George W. Bush will be the first president subjected to this new law.

Is anyone, um, troubled by that? Don't get me wrong, I like to save tax dollars far more than most people, but the President (any President) makes countless enemies while holding the most powerful job in the world. Especially in this day and age.

This law seems ill-conceived.
