McCotter Swears Off Earmarks
This was a surprise, but a welcomed one. McCotter is now the 40th House member to swear off earmarks this year. He's also the 3rd Republican in leadership (Boehner has never sought earmarks and Eric Cantor swore them off earlier this year). Now if only we can get Roy Blunt, Adam Putnam, and the other GOP leaders.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Representative Thaddeus McCotter (R-MI) stated today:
"This year, I decided not to submit any earmarked appropriations requests. Taxpayers’ demand and deserve reform within the earmark process, and I hope to further this cause. Therefore, I have not requested earmarks in any of this year's appropriations bills."
"Now that the earmark appropriations request deadline has passed, this statement is being issued to prove I've matched my words with deeds."
