Pearce Wins in New Mexico
Club for Growth PAC-Endorsed Candidate Steve Pearce Wins New Mexico Senate Primary
Washington – Last night, Club for Growth PAC-endorsed candidate Rep. Steve Pearce won the Republican primary for the Senate seat being vacated by New Mexico Senator Pete Domenici. The Club for Growth PAC bundled $275,000 for Steve Pearce in his primary race.
Rep. Steve Pearce is a strong economic conservative who has faithfully honored his pledge to oppose tax increases throughout his time in Congress. He has also voted against wasteful government spending, receiving a solid 82% on the Club for Growth’s RePORK Card last for consistently voting against outrageous pork projects. Pearce also voted against the “card check” union bill, which would deny workers a secret ballot vote on the unionization of their work place.
Now, Rep. Pearce will face New Mexico Rep. Tom Udall in the general election. Udall is an inveterate liberal who has voted for tax increases and increased government spending, receiving a 0% on the Club for Growth’s RePORK Card. No doubt, Udall would continue this tax-and-spend tradition if elected to the Senate.
“Club for Growth members are proud to have supported an economic conservative like Steve Pearce in his primary win tonight,” said Club for Growth President Pat Toomey. “There are important issues at stake in the upcoming general election. The general election will be competitive, but we are confident that New Mexicans will rally to Steve Pearce when they hear about his record of fighting for the prosperity, jobs, and opportunity that come from free enterprise.”
