Club for Growth PAC Endorses Bob Onder in MO-09
Washington – Today, the Club for Growth PAC endorsed Missouri State Representative Dr. Bob Onder in the Republican primary for Missouri’s Ninth Congressional District seat being vacated by Rep. Kenny Hulshof.
Over his two years in the Missouri State Legislature, Dr. Onder has proved himself to be a strong economic conservative. Although he was a relatively new member of the Legislature, Rep. Onder did not shy away from introducing important pro-growth bills. He sponsored two income tax cutting bills, designed to repeal then-Governor Mel Carnahan’s tax increase, and co-sponsored a Taxpayers Bill of Rights bill. Onder is also an ardent supporter of school choice and tort reform.
It is clear that Onder stands out as the economic conservative in a crowded Republican field. His main opponent, former State Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer, has voted in support of higher taxes, including a bill that would make it easier to impose a sales tax to pay for sports stadiums. On spending issues, Luetkemeyer also voted to increase Missouri’s debt, supporting a $2 billion bond measure in 2000.
“A lot of candidates like to claim they are economic conservatives, but it is clear that Bob Onder is the real deal,” said Club for Growth President Pat Toomey. “Though he only served in the State Legislature for two short years, Rep. Onder quickly made his mark as a supporter of tax cuts and greater economic freedom. Taxpayers in Missouri’s Ninth Congressional District can be confident that Bob Onder will protect their hard-earned money if he is elected to Congress.”
