State Senator Adrian Smith is considered one of the legislature’s strongest supporters of limited government and earned one of the highest ratings from Nebraskans for Freedom, an anti-tax hike group. A few years ago, when the tax and spenders pushed a huge tax hike through the legislature, Smith helped lead the fight against it—standing up to the pressure from his own party’s leadership in the process.
The Club’s PAC backed Adrian in the primary for this Republican open seat and the highly-competitive primary drained his campaign account. Meanwhile, his Democratic opponent had no opposition and banked nearly $300,000, which goes a long way in this rural district. Let’s be sure Adrian has the funds needed to put this race away early.
