Club for Growth Ad Tells New Hampshire Viewers: McCain Wants to Keep Death Tax
Washington, D.C. - Club for Growth, the nation's leading free-market advocacy organization with over 31,000 members, today unveiled ads encouraging Death Tax repeal in targeted states across the U.S. One of the ads tells New Hampshire viewers that Arizona Sen. John McCain wants to keep the Death Tax. Other ads are running in Montana, Washington, North Dakota and Oregon and put political pressure on Senators Baucus, Cantwell, Conrad, and Wyden by asking them to support repeal of the Death Tax. The Senate reconvenes next week and is expected to vote on the issue.
"The Death Tax is an unjust form of double taxation and is a job-killer. Its repeal lies in the hands of these few Senators," said Club for Growth president Pat Toomey. "Repeal of this tax will help prevent families from having to sell or liquidate their inherited farms or small businesses in order to pay up to 55% in taxes."
"Last year, pro-Death Tax candidates for Senate lost several key races, and we hope that politicians have finally learned the lesson that the Death Tax is both bad for the economy and bad for their careers. When the Senate reconvenes next week, these 5 Senators will have a real opportunity to once and for all bury the Death Tax," Toomey concluded. "Their constituents are counting on them to make the right decision."
