The Myth:
  • Speaking of Allen Boyd, the USA Today published a blog post that read, "Fiscally conservative Democrat switches to 'yes' on health care" (Source)

  • "Boyd, in his seventh term, represents a conservative area in northern Florida. A fiscal conservative, he is part of the group of House Democrats known as the Blue Dogs." - CNN's Political Ticker (Source)

  • "As a fiscal conservative and budget hawk, I have been talking for years about the need for strict budget controls" - Rep. Allen Boyd, Jan. 17, 2008 (Source)

  • After the 2006 elections, Boyd wrote, "In the recent election, the American people sent a strong message to Washington-it was a message in favor of fiscal responsibility and the bipartisan ideals that the Blue Dogs were founded upon.  With the Blue Dogs leading the way, we will now have a Congress that promotes fiscal responsibility and exercises its vital oversight role." The Bottom Line:

Allen Boyd can't make a credible argument that he's a fiscal conservative.  He has his fingerprints on bailouts, earmarks, big government healthcare, and the huge Stimulus bill.  Even when given the chance to repeal ObamaCare's individual mandate and TARP, he declined and sided with the liberals.
