The 2009 NTU Scorecard

Andrew Roth - February 25th, 2010

National Taxpayers Union has released their 2009 scorecard.  Here’s a list of their top winners.  Tom Coburn and Jim DeMint had the highest marks in the Senate.  Rep. Jeff Flake had the best score in the U.S. House.  In fact, it’s his seventh straight year in the top position…a record.

Petitions Signed by Economists

Andrew Roth - February 08th, 2010

George Mason University professor Dan Klein and two of his colleagues have compiled a list of all the public policy petitions signed by economists.

This is a great idea, and it sounds like it’s part of a future project that will be revealed in Econ Journal Watch, a publication devoted to providing oversight, if you will, to the field of economics.

And I might add that included in Klein’s list is the 2007 petition sponsored by the Club for Growth for which 1,028 economists announced their opposition to protectionist policies against China.  It was a fun project to be a part of, and I’m proud that we were able to bring such a large number of economists together to fight against bad trade policy.
