Mike Lee (UT-Sen)
Election: November 2, 2010
Endorsed: July 14, 2010
Age: 38
Hometown: Alpine, Utah
Professional Background: Constitutional lawyer
Pro-Growth Highlights:
· Adamant defender of constitutional, limited government
· Supports market-based reforms – toward a goal of eventually eliminating – federal entitlement programs
· Supports a single-rate tax system
· Supports personalized, market-based reforms of entitlement programs
· Has pledged to repeal Obamacare
· Has pledged not to accept earmarks
· Has pledged not to raise taxes
Race Details:
Lee won his June primary against businessman Tim Bridgewater after the two of them – and Club for Growth PAC – defeated incumbent Republican Sen. Bob Bennett at the state convention in May. Lee may be the most fiscally conservative candidate running for office in 2010. If and when he is elected in November – as he is heavily favored to do – Lee may well inch in just to the right of even Jim DeMint on the Club for Growth’s issues.
