Club for Growth On The Doc Fix: Don’t Gruber The Offset

Club for Growth President Chris Chocola: “Republicans should absolutely offset a Doc Fix with real spending cuts, but they shouldn’t ‘Gruber’ the offset.”

Washington, DC – The Club for Growth today released the following statement on the ongoing debate over replacing the Medicare Sustainable Growth Rate, or “Doc Fix”:

“Republicans should absolutely offset a Doc Fix with real spending cuts, but they shouldn’t ‘Gruber’ the offset,” said Club for Growth President Chris Chocola. “We’ve seen members of both parties abuse the CBO’s methodology to make it seem like they’re cutting spending when really all they’re doing is punting the pain to future Congresses. Americans are sick and tired of politicians avoiding tough choices and then making up budget data to claim that they’re being fiscally responsible. Jonathan Gruber did it with ObamaCare and Republicans should not do it with the Doc Fix.”
