Chris Chocola to retire, remain on board of directors

Washington, DC – The Club for Growth today announced that after nearly six years as President, Chris Chocola is retiring from the role and will remain a member of the board of directors. At a meeting this week, the board of the Club for Growth officially named former Indiana Congressman David McIntosh President. Congressman McIntosh will officially become President on January 1st, 2015.

“It was an honor to serve as the head of the Club for Growth and I’m proud to have served during a time when we made unprecedented advances in our mission of promoting economic freedom,” said Club for Growth President Chris Chocola. “Thanks to Club members, our former President, Pat Toomey, is now a distinguished member of the United States Senate, and Club members strongly supported future leaders of the Republican Party like Tom Cotton, Ben Sasse, Dan Sullivan, Mike Lee, Tim Scott, Jeff Flake, Ron Johnson, Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, and Rand Paul through the Club’s PAC. The Club for Growth is the most effective advocate for pro-growth policies in Washington, and I know it will only get stronger under David’s leadership.”

“The Club for Growth is known as America’s premier organization for fighting big-government liberals in both parties, and I’m looking forward to building on that reputation,” said Club for Growth President-elect David McIntosh. “The Club is the tip of the spear when it comes to holding Members of Congress accountable for their actions, and we’ll continue to do just that under my leadership. Chris Chocola has left a legacy of strong leadership that I hope to add to in the coming years.”

“Under Chris Chocola’s leadership, the Club for Growth made tremendous gains in the fight for economic freedom and individual liberty. The future of our nation is brighter because of the strong work he did building on the foundation set by Pat Toomey and the founders of the Club,” said Chairman of the Club for Growth Jackson T. Stephens Jr. “While I am saddened that Chris has chosen to depart, I am ecstatic that he is remaining on the board and that we have someone of the caliber of David McIntosh to fill his shoes. David is a movement conservative who believes deeply that prosperity and opportunity comes from economic freedom, and I know he’s ready to lead the Club for Growth into 2015 and beyond.”

“Chris has done a fantastic job leading the Club for Growth and I’m sorry to see him leave as President,” said former Club for Growth President and United States Senator Pat Toomey. “Under his leadership, the Club has flourished and the prospects for a more free and prosperous America have brightened. I am excited that David McIntosh has agreed to take the reins and I know he’ll continue the great work that the Club does to advocate for pro-growth policy in Washington.”
