Rick Becker

Biography

Rick is a fourth-generation North Dakotan, born and raised in Mandan. Dr. Becker attended University of North Dakota for undergraduate studies, medical school, and general surgery training. He received a B.S. in natural sciences and an M.D. in 1987 and 1992, respectively.

When Baker served in the state legislature, he founded North Dakota’s version of the “Freedom Caucus”.  The Bastiat Caucus, named after a limited government political philosopher Frederic Bastiat, was meant to educate fellow members about legislative bills and discuss ways to further the Republican platform. Becker is a self-described libertarian conservative with maximum freedom, limited government, and personal responsibility. Becker strongly supports free market economic policies, a balanced budget, and term limits.

Rick is married to Anne and they have four children and three grandchildren.
