BREAKING: CfG Restores School Freedom in SC
Washington, D.C. – Club for Growth President David McIntosh issued the following statement after the South Carolina House passed S. 62, reviving school freedom in the Palmetto State:
“Today marks the reversal of an unfortunate setback for parents and students in South Carolina, who were denied opportunity in education by a Supreme Court ruling last year. We applaud the work of Governor McMaster and every legislator in Columbia who fought tirelessly to restore and expand education freedom in the state,” said Club for Growth President David McIntosh. “The days of radical, unelected bureaucrats controlling America’s education system are over. Club for Growth is proud to have played a role in passing this historic legislation, and we look forward to continuing to expand school freedom across the country.”
Leading up to the vote, Club for Growth invested over $250,000 in an advocacy campaign urging South Carolina lawmakers to support school freedom. These efforts included a statewide TV ad, radio ad, and digital and phone efforts urging school freedom supporters to contact members of the South Carolina legislature. Club for Growth also released a new poll showing that 72% of South Carolina voters support education freedom scholarships.
