Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton won the Republican primary runoff on May 26, 2026 for U.S. Senate with 63.8% of the vote, defeating incumbent Sen. John Cornyn. Paxton will advance to the November 3, 2026 general election in what is expected to remain a lean Republican race. In 2024, President Trump defeated Kamala Harris in Texas 56.14% to 42.46%.
