Biography

Braun is a former businessman, previous working with his family on a business manufacturing truck equipment for farmers, and growing Meyer Distributing to more than 300 employees and becoming a significant distributor of truck parts and equipment.

In the Senate, Braun took his no-nonsense approach to business and has stood strong against the Washington Establishment. He has been a champion for Club for Growth policies (CFGF lifetime rating: 94%), including low regulation, taxation, and free markets. Braun was one of the strongest voices in the Senate against the federal government lockdown of the U.S. economy. Braun has maintained a tremendous voting record in the Senate, especially on fiscal policies – helping lead the opposition to debt limit increases and out-of-control federal spending.

As Governor, Braun says he will fight against the hospital lobby to increase transparency in pricing – something he’s worked on as Senator. He will roll back harmful regulation. Braun recognizes Indiana’s state income tax is a hindrance to economic growth and competitiveness and wants to reform Indiana’s tax system. He will also champion school choice. In the Senate, Braun has been an original cosponsor of the legislation to provide term limits on Congress.
