Biography

Senator Pete Ricketts earned a degree in biology and an M.B.A. in marketing and finance from the University of Chicago. He then returned to Nebraska, where he established a successful career in the business world.

Elected Nebraska’s 40th Governor in 2014 and reelected in 2018, Ricketts became a national model for conservative leadership. Under his tenure, Nebraska delivered more than $12.7 billion in tax relief, including eliminating taxes on Social Security benefits and veterans’ retirement income. He cut government spending growth in half, slashed red tape, and expanded workforce development. Nebraska repeatedly ranked #1 in economic development projects per capita thanks to his policies.

Appointed to the U.S. Senate in 2023, following the retirement of Senator Ben Sasse, Senator Ricketts brings his conservative vision to Washington, fighting every day for lower taxes, less government, and more economic opportunity for all Americans. Senator Ricketts is the conservative champion Nebraska needs in the Senate.
