Other Competitive Races

Every election cycle, Club for Growth PAC assembles a list for Club for Growth members of other competitive races that may help determine a Republican Majority in Congress.

Club for Growth PAC only endorses candidates that meet our high standard of pro-growth, economic conservatism, but often Club members have questions about other races in which we have not made an endorsement. In this election cycle in particular, with the Republican Majority on the line in both the House and the Senate, this list seeks to inform members about the  state of those races.

Competitive Senate Races

Joni Ernst

Joni Ernst (IA-SEN)

Running for her second term, Sen. Joni Ernst is in a neck-and-neck race against a little-known Democrat named Theresa Greenfield, who is benefitting tremendously from Chuck Schumer’s donor network. Iowans are famously conscientious when it comes to elections, so they will be paying very close attention to the candidates and their messages during the final weeks of this race. Read More
Cory Gardner

Cory Gardner (CO-SEN)

Unfortunately, during the past six years, Colorado has shifted towards the Democrats, putting Senator Gardner in a tough position against Democrat nominee John Hickenlooper. A former Governor of Colorado and Mayor of Denver, Hickenlooper is well-known, and while he has a background as a small businessman, he advances a leftist agenda that will certainly punish anyone looking to start or grow a business in the future. Most polls give Hickenlooper… Read More
John James

John James (MI-SEN)

John James is the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate in Michigan for the second consecutive election cycle. He came out of nowhere to give Democrat Debbie Stabenow a tougher-than-expected race in 2018, and now is running another strong campaign against Democrat Gary Peters. With Michigan again serving as a battleground state at the presidential level, this race will be hotly contested, and with enough funding, James has a legitimate chance… Read More
Martha McSally

Martha McSally (AZ-SEN)

Arguably the country’s newest “swing state,” Arizona has become a major focus of both parties in the fight for control over the House of Representatives, the Senate, and even the White House. The state is “in play” in the race for the White House, and in the Senate election, the Democrat (former astronaut Mark Kelly) has opened a consistent polling lead against incumbent Republican Martha McSally. McSally’s main obstacle for… Read More
David Perdue

David Perdue (GA-SEN)

Senator David Perdue (CFG Lifetime Rating: 83%) is running for reelection in 2020 to his second term. Most of the time, Senator Perdue has fought for economic conservative priorities in the US Senate. Though Georgia is a slightly Republican-leaning state (51% for Trump in 2016), it is slowly trending blue, meaning that the Democrats will probably try to recruit a strong candidate to run against him and put this seat under… Read More
Thom Tillis

Thom Tillis (NC-SEN)

North Carolina is another emerging “battleground state” being targeted by the Biden campaign, so Senator Tillis is fighting off a challenge from Democrat state legislator Cal Cunningham. Cunningham has a small lead in the polls as well as a small fundraising advantage, so Tillis’ campaign needs your help to cross the finish line. Read More
