Too many politicians in Washington spend money that we don’t have, borrowing against future generations of Americans. The National Debt exceeds $22 trillion and the annual federal deficit is around $1 trillion – this is unacceptable.

In 2011 Congress established commonsense spending caps in the Budget Control Act to help right the ship.  Big Spenders in Washington are conspiring to bust the caps in a discretionary spending deal, but fiscal conservatives in Congress are coming out strong and telling American taxpayers they will #HoldToTheCaps.

See if your representatives in Washington are fiscal conservatives or big spenders.

Big Spender Wall
Rep. Chip Roy

"Hey, that’s not right! Some of us weren’t here to vote “no” on that budget-busting “deal,” but will vote “no” this year if we don’t hold to caps-level spending. If DOD needs to go up, then do some mandatory reforming and/or hold non-defense discretionary to the caps or less..."

04/29/2019
Rep. Ted Budd

"If there's one thing politicians in DC can always agree on its more spending. Not me. I'll be a NO on any deal that increases the spending caps. Our kids and grandkids deserve better."

04/29/2019
Rep. Justin Amash

“Take a guess.” -@JustinAmash

@club4growth asks, "In Feb. 2018, @justinamash voted against the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018, which increased the discretionary spending caps in FY2018 & FY2019 by a total $296 billion. @justinamash, will you commit to vote against the next bipartisan deal to increase spending? #HoldToTheCaps"

04/29/2019
Rep. Andy Biggs

"Yes. It’s time that we take our spending problem seriously and focus on decreasing America’s national debt."

04/29/2019
Rep. George Holding

"Raising the spending caps and increasing spending - when we are already $22 trillion in debt - will only make our fiscal crisis worse and further burden future generations. That’s just typical Washington politics and I can’t support it. You can count me in the “NO” column."

04/29/2019
Rep. Mark Walker

"Absolutely, 100%. The new Democratic majority is pushing socialism and can’t produce a budget because of infighting between the “Spend More Caucus” and the “Spend WAY More Caucus.” It’s not the time to erase all limits or protections we have to resist Washington’s power grab."

04/29/2019
Rep. Ken Buck

"💯. It’s irresponsible to constantly increase spending while passing the burden onto our children and grandchildren. I will continue to fight against the recklessness of the swamp."

04/30/2019
Sen. Rand Paul

"Absolutely. We have to cut spending. I’ve put forward my own budget, the Penny Plan and consistently highlighted our wasted tax dollars in my waste reports."

04/30/2019
Rep. John Ratcliffe

"Continuously raising discretionary caps allows politicians to avoid making the tough decisions needed to live within our means as a government. Washington’s got a spending problem, and I won’t support passing the buck to future generations."

04/30/2019
Rep. David Schweikert

"Washington, D.C. must learn to live within its means. I will continue to fight to cut wasteful spending that supports our children's future, and I look forward to working to develop pro-growth policy, without increasing spending."

05/02/2019
Rep. Mark Meadows

"Yes. Not voting for it." -@RepMarkMeadows

@club4growth asks,"In Feb 2018, @RepMarkMeadows voted against the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018, which increased the discretionary spending caps in FY2018/FY2019 by a total $296 billion. @RepMarkMeadows, will you commit to vote against the next bipartisan deal to increase spending? #HoldToTheCaps"

05/06/2019
Rep. Ralph Norman

"Yes. Bipartisan or not, to increase spending when we're $22 TRILLION in the hole is either lazy or inept governance. Perhaps both."

05/06/2019
Rep. Jim Jordan

"Just signed @RepChipRoy’s letter to hold to the spending caps. $22 trillion in debt is way too much. The last thing we need is more."

05/07/2019
Sen. Mike Lee

"Of course I will vote against a deal that busts the discretionary spending caps to increase federal spending. #HoldToTheCaps"

05/07/2019
Rep. Mike Cloud

"The national debt has been spiraling out of control, and it’s Congress’ duty to fix the problem. Responsible spending is the first step. That’s why I cannot in good conscience support busting the budget caps and passing the buck to our kids and grandkids."

05/08/2019
Rep. Ron Wright

"Same!" - @RepRonWright

In response to @RepKenBuck tweet: I will not support any budget deal that increases our country’s federal spending. Our nation’s $22 trillion debt is unconscionable and it is a burden to our children & future generations. I join my colleagues in urging @SpeakerPelosi to #HoldToTheCaps. https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/house-republicans-to-call-on-pelosi-to-keep-to-spending-limits

The national debt is a staggering $22 trillion and we owe it to future generations to reign in out-of-control government spending. The Budget Control Act of 2011 is the law and we should stick to it! @club4growth

05/08/2019
Rep. Mike Johnson

Restoring fiscal responsibility is the only way to create a secure and prosperous future for generations to come, and that starts with making sure we #HoldTheCaps. House Freedom Caucus

Official position: HFC will oppose raising the spending caps. In six years, our country will spend more on interest for old debt than it does on defense. The time for budget discipline is now.
