Key Vote Alert – House – “NO ” on CR through March

  |

The Club for Growth urges all Representatives to vote NO on the Senate Amendment to H.R. 2872, which would provide authorization for continuing appropriations through March 1 and March 8. The results of this vote will be included in the Club for Growth Foundation’s 2024 congressional scorecard.

Despite an unthinkable $34 trillion in debt and inflation continuing to run over 3%, this continuing resolution would continue bloated FY 2023 spending levels and pave the way for a topline spending total that is $69 billion above the levels set in the Fiscal Responsibility Act (FRA). While Speaker Johnson deserves credit for negotiating an additional $10.2 billion in cuts to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and $6.1 billion in outdated COVID budget authority, these cuts should not be used to backfill more wasteful spending. Additionally, the framework uses $42.7 billion in budget gimmicks to further elevate the non-defense discretionary topline. Club for Growth stands with conservatives in the House and Senate demanding that lawmakers keep their word and stick to the spending caps set in the FRA.

Club for Growth Foundation’s Congressional Scorecard for the 118th Congress provides a comprehensive rating of how well or how poorly each member of Congress supports pro-growth, free-market policies and will be distributed to the public.
