KEY VOTE ALERT – “NO” ON GREEN NEW DEAL, S.J. RES 8
The Club for Growth opposes the Green New Deal, S.J. Res 8 and urges all Senators to vote NO on it. A vote is expected this week in the Senate. The results of this vote will be included in the Club for Growth Foundation’s 2019 congressional scorecard. The scorecard will count any Senators voting “present” as a vote in support of the Green New Deal.
The Green New Deal creates socialism and would be economic Armageddon for the U.S. and global economies. The legislation would kill free enterprise, free markets, and international business. It would impact every sector of the U.S. economy and includes mandates to upgrade all homes, buildings, and structures with energy efficiency standards, while obliterating the fossil fuel industry.
The socialist wish-list abolishes private health insurance and establishes Medicare For All. It tramples on intellectual property rights and copyrights by promoting the exchange of technology, expertise, products and funding to other countries in order to help them achieve a Green New Deal.
While some Senators have called a vote on the Green New Deal a show vote, the vote on the Green New Deal is necessary because the legislation is being used as a messaging tool to show the extreme left the roadmap to the new socialist agenda to upend generations of prosperity and wealth creation through economic freedom.
Club for Growth Foundation’s Congressional Scorecard for the 116th Congress will educate the public by providing a comprehensive rating of how well or how poorly each member of Congress supported pro-growth, free-market policies.
