KEY VOTE ALERT – “NO” ON PROTECTING THE RIGHT TO ORGANIZE, H.R. 2474

  |

Club for Growth opposes the Protecting the Right to Organize Act (PRO Act), H.R. 2474, and urges all Representatives to vote no. The legislation is expected to be considered soon in the House of Representatives. The result of the vote will be included in the Club for Growth Foundation’s 2020 Congressional Scorecard.

This legislation eliminates States’ Right to Work laws which protect workers against being forced to pay dues to a union. Moreover, workers that are considering union activity should be protected with a secret ballot but this legislation would enable employers to bypass them. Data is power, and this legislation’s requirement that employers share workers’ data and private information with unions, results in the employer and employees’ data to become a tool of coercion in the hands of powerful union thugs.

Instead Congress should work to advance economic opportunity and freedom in the labor force. By working with the Executive Branch to remove costly and burdensome regulations, stronger economic activity and job formation can take place. Any attempt to stifle workers and job creators should be rejected. Any attempt to unwilfully remove decision-making and power from the employee and employer must be repudiated.
