Key Vote Alert – Senate – “NO” on Senator Susan Collins’ Amendment #2812 to H.R. 1 Tax Increase

  |

The Club for Growth urges all Senators to vote NO on the Senator Susan Collins amendment #2812 to H.R. 1 – the One Big Beautiful Bill Act providing for a tax increase. The results of this vote will be included in the Club for Growth Foundation’s 2025 congressional scorecard.

The Collins amendment is a poison pill to the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. This amendment would apply a 39.6% individual income tax rate to provide $25 billion in additional funding for providers under the Rural Health Transformation Program.

This is a typical “tax and spend” approach to finance higher spending. The amendment would fulfill a Kamala Harris proposal to increase taxes which has been firmly rejected by the American People. Tax increases stifle economic growth, reduce the number of jobs, decrease GDP, and lower workers’ wages and should be firmly rejected. Club for Growth strongly encourages all Senators to vote NO on the Collins amendment.

Club for Growth Foundation’s Congressional Scorecard for the 119th Congress provides a comprehensive rating of how well or how poorly each member of Congress supports pro-growth, free-market policies and will be distributed to the public.
