CLUB FOR GROWTH STATEMENT ON SENATOR PAT TOOMEY’S ANNOUNCEMENT HE WILL LEAVE PUBLIC SERVICE IN 2022
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Club for Growth issued the following statement after former Club for Growth President and now Pennsylvania Senator Pat Toomey announced he would not seek reelection in 2022 and plans to leave public service.
“Senator Toomey has been an outstanding fighter for pro-growth policies as a U.S. Representative for Pennsylvania’s 15th Congressional District, as the President of the Club for Growth, and now as a Senator,” said Club for Growth President David McIntosh. “Senator Toomey is a great American and dear friend and our country is better off because of Senator Toomey’s dedication to fighting for free markets, low taxation, and limited government. We and all Americans will miss him in the United States Senate. Fortunately, he has two more years to serve and the Club for Growth looks forward to working with him to support his pro-growth agenda. And, of course, I wish him and his family the very best in his next endeavor.”
From 2005 to 2009, Senator Toomey served as the President of the Club for Growth where he grew the Club’s influence exponentially in elections, on Capitol Hill, and in fundraising. During Toomey’s tenure, Club for Growth PAC helped reelect former South Carolina Senator Jim DeMint, the late Oklahoma Senator Tom Coburn, and scored several wins in the House of Representatives.
Senator Toomey is a seven-time winner of the Club for Growth’s Defender of Economic Freedom Award with a lifetime average of 93% on the Club for Growth Foundation’s annual scorecard.
