Club for Growth Announces Nebraska Defender of Economic Freedom Awards

  |

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Club for Growth today announced its Defender of Economic Freedom awards for three Nebraska state senators whose voting records distinguished them as champions of economic liberty for their high scores on the new Club for Growth Foundation’s 2021 Nebraska Economic Scorecard.

The Club for Growth recognizes elected officials who, on the Foundation’s scorecard, score 90% or better in a given calendar year and maintain lifetime scores of 90% or better as Defenders of Economic Freedom. The following Nebraska state lawmakers won the award:

  • Sen. Robert Clements (SD-02) – 95%
  • Sen. Bruce Bostelman (SD-23) – 90%
  • Sen. Dan Hughes (SD-44) – 90%

“Nebraska has 49 state senators, but only three of those lawmakers are true defenders of economic freedom. It was encouraging to see the unicameral pass several pro-growth pieces of legislation, but it appears that too many senators are addicted to corporate welfare schemes.  If they can cut this nasty habit while continuing their support for pro-growth policies, Nebraska could be the Florida of the Midwest – a shining example of economic freedom and limited government.” said Club for Growth President David McIntosh.
