CfG Action President McIntosh Statement on TX Senate School Freedom Vote
Washington, D.C. – Club for Growth Action President David McIntosh issued the following statement after the Texas State Senate passed SB 2, the state’s universal school freedom bill.
“School freedom is the defining civil rights issue of this generation. We applaud the work of Governor Greg Abbott, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, and every member of the Texas State Senate who voted for SB 2 for their commitment to give parents a voice in their children’s education,” said Club for Growth Action President David McIntosh. “Now, the onus falls on the Texas State House to pass this legislation without compromise. If any Republican opposes school freedom and spurns their constituents, Club for Growth Action and School Freedom Fund are ready to engage.”
McIntosh also published an op-ed in Texas Scorecard urging the Texas State House to pass SB 2.
Club for Growth Action and its affiliated School Freedom Fund invested $15.7 million during the 2024 election cycle, which succeeded in defeating 14 so-called Republican state-level lawmakers who opposed school freedom in Texas and Tennessee, including an $8.8 million campaign that defeated 10 incumbent Republicans in the Texas State House.
