CfG Brings School Choice to Texas
Washington, D.C. – Club for Growth congratulates Governor Abbott for signing SB 2, Texas’ landmark school freedom bill, into law on Saturday.
“The nation’s second largest state is now a national leader in school freedom, and this weekend’s ceremony marks a new era of opportunity for Texas students and families,” said Club for Growth President David McIntosh. “Fueled by parents, the grassroots momentum for school freedom sweeping the nation finally overcame resistance from RINO sell-outs and liberal special interests. We applaud the resolve of Governor Abbott and every legislator who have made education freedom a reality in the Lone Star State.”
This legislative session, Club for Growth has invested over $1 million to support school choice in Texas, including three television ads, radio and print ads, digital and phone advocacy, and polling showing Texans overwhelmingly support Education Savings Accounts.
In 2024, Club for Growth Action and the allied School Freedom Fund invested $8.5 million in Texas primary and runoff elections, running 36 unique TV ads to defeat 10 anti-school choice Republican incumbents.
Texas joins 6 other states – Tennessee, Wyoming, Idaho, Georgia, Indiana and South Carolina – that have passed or protected school freedom this year after engagement from Club for Growth.
