Club for Growth Action Launches New Website: Beto’s Dirty Laundry

  |

Today, Club for Growth Action unveiled a new microsite to expose Beto O’Rourke for the self-interested politician he really is.  The website, BetosDirtyLaundry.com, catalogues the long list of O’Rourke’s shading dealings and tendency to put his own interests above his constituents.

Upon launch of the website, Club for Growth Action President David McIntosh noted, “Beto O’Rourke has pretended he’s a ‘man of the people,’ but the facts tell a different story.  He’s a self-interested, millionaire politician who advances his own agenda, and the people of Texas deserve better.”

A few examples of O’Rourke’s scandal-filled past include:

  • As an El Paso city councilman, Beto O’Rourke tried to use the government’s power of eminent domain to bulldoze a historic neighborhood and give the land to a private real estate development group led by his father-in-law to make way for big-box retail stores.
  • Beto O’Rourke violated US House ethics rules meant to stop members of Congress from benefitting from special stock deals. He improperly bought thousands of dollars in Twitter stock when the California-based tech giant was Wall Street’s most anticipated public offering of the year.
  • Beto O’Rourke has been a pay-to-play politician since day one. As an El Paso City Councilman, O’Rourke appointed several of his campaign donors to local boards and commissions and provided other special favors. O’Rourke even voted to give his billionaire campaign donor $8 million in tax incentives to build a new shopping center.
  • After a mentor to Beto O’Rourke was found guilty of stealing over $250 million from American businesses in an elaborate coupon fraud scheme, O’Rourke intervened on behalf of his wealthy donor and mentor, asking a federal judge for leniency.
  • Beto O’Rourke claims he has your back, but the truth is he always takes care of himself first. As an El Paso City Councilman, O’Rourke voted to spend more than two hundred thousand dollars of taxpayer money to pave the street in front of his personal business office.
