Club for Growth, American Federation for Children Launch Federal Education Freedom Pledge

  |

Washington, D.C. – Club for Growth and the American Federation for Children have partnered to create the Federal Education Freedom pledge, laying the groundwork for federal school freedom legislation. Active members of Congress as well as declared candidates are encouraged to sign the pledge to show their commitment to funding students over systems. Thus far, 3 United States Senators and 16 members of Congress have signed the pledge.  David Sivak from the Washington Examiner wrote an exclusive report covering the launch.

“We are proud to partner with American Federation for Children, one of the leading school freedom organizations in the country, to launch the Federal Education Freedom pledge,” said Club for Growth President David McIntosh. “After many tremendous legislative victories at the state level, it is clear there is widespread support for school freedom from parents across the country. Now is the time for the federal government to capitalize on this momentum and create an educational system that works for everyone nationwide.”

“This is a new era for our K-12 system,” said Tommy Schultz, CEO of the American Federation for Children. “There’s been a tidal wave of expansions of educational freedom in the last year, and AFC has been honored to partner with parents, advocates, and policymakers to propel these school choice victories for families. Now, we are thrilled to partner with Club for Growth to ensure the promise of school freedom is demanded from federal candidates and federal lawmakers. Congress has the power to tear down barriers to life changing educational opportunity for millions of students, especially in this time of crisis where new data shows only 13% of 8th graders are proficient in U.S. history.”
