Club for Growth Applauds Senator Perdue and Congressman Biggs’ Leadership Confronting the National Debt

Today, Club for Growth President David McIntosh released the following statement praising Senator David Perdue (R-GA) and Congressman Andy Biggs (R-AZ) for introducing companion resolutions that recognize the significant threat the national debt poses to our nation’s future:

“Our nation’s debt is soaring out of control – currently at a record $22 trillion,” stated Club for Growth President David McIntosh. 

“National security leaders like Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats have warned about the threat of our nation’s debt, and former Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Mike Mullen went so far as to call it ‘the most significant threat to our national security.’  And yet Congress’s answer to confronting the problem has thus far been to spend more money.

“Fortunately, with the leadership of Senator Perdue and Congressman Biggs, there is hope that this trend can be reversed.  By forcing this issue to the forefront, Perdue and Biggs are setting a great example for their peers and Club for Growth encourages members in both chambers of Congress to sign on to these resolutions.  Our nation’s spending habits are on an unsustainable path.  These resolutions are a good step toward reversing this tide and getting our nation’s fiscal house in order,” concluded McIntosh.
