CLUB FOR GROWTH STATEMENT ON CORONAVIRUS SPENDING NEGOTIATION

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Club for Growth issued the following statement regarding ongoing Coronavirus spending negotiations.

“The latest Coronavirus proposal which includes over $900 billion in federal deficit spending proves that it was nothing more than lip service when Republican Senate Leadership spoke out just days ago against the deficit and out-of-control spending. Congress should refocus on whether the U.S. is doing everything possible to quickly and safely produce and administer a vaccine, pass pro-growth policies to encourage economic growth and recovery, and get our children safely back to school. We ask Republicans and President Trump to reject the outrageous demands of Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, Lisa Murkowski and Mitt Romney’s for even more irresponsible spending.”  – David McIntosh, Club for Growth President

Club for Growth opposes:

  • Extending unemployment insurance which would further disincentivize returning to work
  • Pumping billions of federal tax dollars into irresponsible state and local governments
  • Continuing to send federal education funds to school districts where bureaucrats are preventing schools from opening
