Key Vote Alert – “NO” on the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2015 (HR 1314)

KEY VOTE ALERT

“NO” on the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2015 (HR 1314)

The Club for Growth urges all members of Congress to oppose The Bipartisan Budget Act of 2015 (HR 1314).  Consideration of this bill, and a vote on final passage is expected later today.  The vote will be included in the Club for Growth’s 2015 Congressional Scorecard.

This proposal includes a massive $1.5 trillion increase in the federal debt ceiling AND a large $112 billion increase in federal spending – hardly a fiscally conservative plan.  In addition are budget gimmicks to “pay” for it, and a complete unwillingness by congressional leaders to actually constrain the growth of government.

All members devoted to keeping a tight lid on federal spending should oppose this bill, especially those who gave lip service to the Budget Control Act in 2011 that imposed the spending caps that this new bill is busting.

Our Congressional Scorecard for the 114th Congress provides a comprehensive rating of how well or how poorly each member of Congress supports pro-growth, free-market policies and will be distributed to our members and to the public.
