Key Vote Alert: Senate – “No” on Invoking Cloture For Senate Amendment to H.R. 3935
The Club for Growth urges all Senators to vote NO on invoking cloture on the Senate Amendment to H.R. 3935. The results of this vote will be included in the Club for Growth Foundation’s 2023 congressional scorecard.
While the House of Representatives works to pass appropriations bills that reduce wasteful government spending, the Senate is poised to pass a continuing resolution (CR) maintaining the status quo that has left Americans unable to afford groceries, gas and other necessities while greasing the skids for another budget-busting omnibus spending package.
House conservatives have stood strong and demanded common sense spending reductions that will reduce wasteful spending – a sound first step towards addressing our unsustainable debt and putting downward pressure on inflation. The Club for Growth stands with House conservatives fighting for fiscal sanity.
Unfortunately, Senate leaders have arrogantly tossed aside even the appearance of fiscal restraint with their plan to include more than $12 billion in supplemental appropriations to accompany the inflationary FY 2023 spending levels extended in this CR. The hubris of Senate leaders is a slap in the face to Americans suffering from high inflation, record interest rates and a deficit topping $2 trillion. Passage of a CR will set the stage for a reckless omnibus spending package that rewards big government liberals in Washington while leaving hardworking Americans out to dry. Club for Growth urges Senators to stand with the American people and reject this approach.
Club for Growth Foundation’s Congressional Scorecard for the 118th Congress provides a comprehensive rating of how well or how poorly each member of Congress supports pro-growth, free-market policies and will be distributed to the public.
