Key Vote Alert – “YES” on Lee Amendment to Doc Fix Bill (H.R. 2)
KEY VOTE ALERT
“YES” on Lee Amendment to Doc Fix Bill (H.R. 2)
The Club for Growth urges all Senators to vote “YES” on Sen. Mike Lee’s amendment to the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (H.R. 2). A vote is expected as early as this afternoon. This vote will be included in the Club for Growth’s 2015 Congressional Scorecard.
Section 525 of this bill exempts it from the requirements of the Statutory Pay-As-You-Go Act of 2010 and Senate PAYGO, thus allowing Congress to pass this bill without fully offsetting the cost, which is projected at $141 billion over ten years. The Lee amendment would strike this section of the bill, and force Congress to find savings to fully offset the cost before the end of the year.
It is imperative that members of Congress not be allowed to rack up more and more debt, especially those who profess to be fiscal conservatives who believe in limited government. This amendment should be vigorously supported.
Our Congressional Scorecard for the 114th Congress provides a comprehensive rating of how well or how poorly each member of Congress supports pro-growth, free-market policies and will be distributed to our members and to the public.
