MCCONNELL CAVES TO PELOSI ON PHASE 4 CORONAVIRUS LEGISLATION

Trump Can Still Save The Day With A Veto & Push For Meaningful Parental Choice

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Club for Growth issued the following statement after details of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s proposed Phase 4 Coronavirus recovery legislation were released. Club for Growth is urging all Senators and Members of the U.S. House of Representatives to oppose the bill.  If this proposal is voted on, Club for Growth will key vote against its passage.  The vote will be included in the Club for Growth Foundation’s 2020 Congressional Scorecard. Should the legislation pass in Congress, Club for Growth will ask President Trump to veto it.

“It’s unacceptable that Leader McConnell’s proposed legislation does not contain meaningful Parental Choice Educational Grants that reach all students who are being failed in their education by public educators. At the same time, the legislation irresponsibly spends on an amended extension of the expanded unemployment insurance benefit and another round of stimulus checks. It’s unfortunate that McConnell caved to Speaker Pelosi and her socialist special interests before negotiations have even begun. It is not too late for President Trump to save the day for American families and students by demanding Parental Choice Educational Grants be made available to all parents and all students, including home-schooled students. We strongly urge President Trump to make this bold proposal a red line in negotiations so that educational opportunities are available to all K-12 students.” – David McIntosh, President, Club for Growth
