NEW POLL SHOWS TROUBLE FOR INFRASTRUCTURE DEAL SUPPORTERS; CLUB FOR GROWTH URGES SENATORS TO OPPOSE

Washington, D.C. – Club for Growth issued the following statement and national polling related to the bipartisan infrastructure bill that was released last night.

“Our polling shows that all Americans, including Democrats, prefer to end out-of-control spending and onerous regulations, and the infrastructure bill does the exact opposite which is why we urge all Senators to oppose it,” said Club for Growth President David McIntosh. “This bill is a gateway drug to the reconciliation package and trillions in new spending that we don’t need and can’t afford.”

According to recent Club for Growth polling:

  • A total of 64% of voters support, “Ending continuous deficit spending, and requiring that the federal budget be balanced.” A total of 13% oppose. The statement is supported by 49% of Democrats and opposed by 24% of Democrats.
  • A total of 60% of voters support, “Reducing traffic by making it easier to repair our roads, bridges, and airports by speeding up environmental impact reviews that are often used to delay projects for years and eliminating requirements that force the federal government to often pay higher labor costs than private companies or state and local governments.” A total of 13% oppose. The statement is supported by 55% of Democrats and opposed by 19% of Democrats.

The poll was conducted for Club for Growth by WPA Intelligence July 20-28, 2021, and includes 1,000 registered voters nationally.
