Trump Proved Again That He’s Not a Conservative

“Trump offers stunningly weak answer on the question of conservatism.”

Washington, DC – Club for Growth Action, a political arm of the Club for Growth, released the following statement after tonight’s Republican Presidential Debate:

“Donald Trump showed again why he’s not a conservative and is not to be trusted,” said Club for Growth president David McIntosh. “Tonight, Trump whiffed on a softball question: tell why you’re a conservative. Trump didn’t talk about opportunity, limited government, or protecting power at local and state levels, and not consolidating it in Washington. Instead, he offered a rambling response about conserving stuff. For a Republican candidate for president, Trump gave a stunningly weak answer, and that’s not a surprise. He has a long record of support for higher taxes, government-run health care, and giving to liberals. And during this campaign Trump has repeatedly projected himself as a strong man who applauds the abuse of eminent domain by private developers, who will slap taxes on companies, who will take pleasure in the failure of companies he doesn’t like, who will ensure that the government still pays for health care, and who will use the power of the executive branch to enact his agenda. Donald Trump is not a conservative.
