Johnson Closing in Wisconsin on Strength of Club for Growth Action Ad

“The ad’s message about career political insider Russ Feingold is resonating with voters.”

Washington, DC – Club for Growth Action, a political arm of the Club for Growth, today announced the results of a poll that measured the Wisconsin Senate race and the effectiveness of CFG Action’s latest ad. According to the sample of 400 likely voters in Wisconsin (taken October 18-20), the race is well within the margin of error. Senator Ron Johnson trails Russ Feingold by just three points, 45-42. The polling also shows that 44% of voters have seen the ad, and that 20% of Feingold supporters are left with a less favorable impression of him after seeing it.

“Club for Growth Action’s latest TV ad in the Wisconsin Senate race is not only working, but it was launched at a time when other groups were leaving that race,” said Club for Growth Action president David McIntosh. “The ad’s message about career political insider Russ Feingold is resonating and pro-growth candidate Ron Johnson is increasingly in a position to win re-election.”

Club for Growth Action spent more than $750,000 on this anti-Feingold ad that began airing on October 12, bringing its total spending in the race to more than $1.5 million.
