Club for Growth PAC Endorses Jon Bonck in TX-38 Race
Washington, D.C. – Club for Growth PAC endorsed Jon Bonck in Texas’ 38th Congressional district. Bonck, a mortgage and real estate broker, is running to replace Rep. Wesley Hunt (CfGF Lifetime Rating: 100%) after Hunt announced he would not seek reelection and run for U.S. Senate. Sen. Ted Cruz has also endorsed Bonck in the race. Renzo Downey covered the announcement as an exclusive for Texas Tribune’s The Blast newsletter.
“Jon Bonck is a fiscal conservative who will fight every day for lower taxes, school freedom, and economic liberty for Texans on Capitol Hill,” said Club for Growth PAC President David McIntosh. “Bonck’s background in real estate gives him a firsthand understanding of how to bring prices down with free-market principles as opposed to the progressive policies driving inflation. Club for Growth PAC is proud to endorse Bonck in the race, and we look forward to his leadership in Congress.”
Club for Growth PAC is affiliated with Club for Growth Action, America’s largest independent conservative Super PAC. In the 2024 cycle, Club for Growth PAC endorsed candidates won 77.3% of their races.

| Club for Growth PAC has endorsed Republican mortgage broker Jon Bonck to succeed U.S. Rep. Wesley Hunt in Harris County’s 38th Congressional District. |
| Based on the endorsements he’s racked up so far, Bonck is the leading candidate in the crowded field to follow Hunt, who is giving up his Republican-leaning seat to run for Senate. Club for Growth PAC, a part of the network that heavily shaped the 2024 Texas GOP primaries, is another feather in his cap. |

| The network also has a long history of wading into Texas’ federal GOP primaries, with Club for Growth PAC backing U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz in all three of his Senate campaigns and his 2016 presidential campaign. Late last month, the group endorsed attorney Chris Gober in the race to succeed retiring Austin U.S. Rep. Michael McCaul in the 10th Congressional District, marking its first foray into the 2026 Texas primaries.
There hasn’t been any public polling yet in the 11-person GOP primary for TX-38, but Bonck has emerged as the frontrunner based on his consolidation of endorsements to date. Cruz has already endorsed him, as have several others from the Texas delegation: U.S. Reps. Brandon Gill of Flower Mound, Ronny Jackson of Amarillo, Pete Sessions of Waco and Roger Williams of Willow Park, along with retiring U.S. Rep. Jodey Arrington of Lubbock. |
