Club for Growth Action and Protect Freedom PAC Announces $13.55 Million Fundraising Haul for Alex Mooney

Washington, D.C. – Club for Growth Action and Protect Freedom PAC announced they have raised $13.55 million in a joint effort to support Rep. Alex Mooney in West Virginia’s US Senate race. This announcement comes after Club for Growth Action had previously committed to spend at least $10 million in the race to support Mooney’s candidacy.

“The more West Virginia voters learn about Jim Justice, Mitch McConnell’s chosen candidate, the clearer it becomes that he is a big government RINO,” said Club for Growth Action President David McIntosh. “Alex Mooney has a strong track record of pushing back on Joe Biden’s radical policy agenda in Washington and is the only candidate in the race that is serious about promoting fiscal responsibility.”

Mooney has continued to consolidate support and endorsements for his campaign from principled conservatives in Washington, including: Sen. Rand Paul, Sen. Mike Lee, and Sen. Ted Cruz.

West Virginia’s Republican Senate primary closely resembles North Carolina’s in 2022. Governor Pat McCrory began with an early lead, but Republican voters overwhelmingly supported Ted Budd on primary day after Club for Growth Action and its allied PACs spent more than $13 million exposing McCrory’s liberal record. However, only $5.25m of the over $13 million spent in the North Carolina Republican primary had been raised at this point last cycle. The fundraising effort for Alex Mooney is outpacing all previous hauls for conservative Senate candidates and it has only just begun.

Club for Growth Action and their allied PACs, along with Protect Freedom PAC, combined to invest over $110 million to elect conservatives during the 2022 cycle.
