North Carolina State Representative Greg Murphy won the Republican primary in North Carolina’s 3rd Congressional District and will face former Greenville Mayor Allen Thomas in a special election on September 10. Murphy defeated Joan Perry, the preferred candidate of the Washington Establishment and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy.
“Primary voters in North Carolina’s 9th Congressional District made the right choice in voting for Greg Murphy – he is the best candidate to beat liberal, out-of-touch, Allen Thomas in the upcoming special election,” said Club for Growth PAC President David McIntosh. “Murphy will unite voters behind his candidacy because he will fight for economic freedom and fiscal responsibility, while Thomas will only work to advance the radical socialist agenda of Nancy Pelosi and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.”
Club for Growth Action sent a $50,000 grant to Awake Carolina in support of Murphy’s candidacy.
