CLUB FOR GROWTH PAC POLL: SUPPORT FOR MCCONNELL COVID BILL WOULD HURT VULNERABLE REPUBLICANS & JEOPARDIZE NOVEMBER PROSPECTS

  |

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A recent Club for Growth PAC poll of the key Senate battleground states of Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Iowa, Maine, Montana, and North Carolina showed that vulnerable Republican Senators will lose support of conservatives if they support Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s big-spending Covid response legislation  which fails to address the needs of students with meaningful parental choice. Support for the bill would also hurt Trump’s reelection prospects in those key battleground states.

“Republicans in the Senate should remember they were sent there to apply conservative principles to the government, not forget them.” said David McIntosh, Club for Growth PAC President. “Instead of tax-cuts and meaningful school choice, Leader McConnell is pursuing a path that ignores what America needs and instead will lead to electoral defeat for themselves and possibly President Trump.”

NBC’s Ginger Gibson published an exclusive report on the poll.

Key Takeaways:

  • Republican Senators across these seven states already face a challenging election.
  • Three provisions of the current Senate relief package would have particularly negative effects on the prospects of Republican Senators who vote for them.
  • If these Senators vote for the current Senate relief package it could damage Republican turnout in these key battlegrounds.
