Democrats Fail Their District & Face Voter Backlash

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Club for Growth Action issued the following statement in response to Democrats in the U.S. House supporting the “rule” vote accommodating the Democrats’ budget resolution which includes fast-tracking reconciliation instructions for the ultra-liberal infrastructure spending bill.

“No one who voted for this radical leftist wish list can ever be called a moderate,” said Club for Growth Action President David McIntosh. “Outside of San Francisco and Manhattan, support for this bill will generate significant voter backlash, and Club for Growth Action will begin looking into these and other districts for alternatives who better represent the values of their voters as opposed to cheerleaders for the Democratic Party’s radical tax and debt policies. Our polling shows Democratic voters are far more fiscally conservative than liberals in Washington assume, and we believe that’s a lesson they’re going to learn in the mid-term election.”

The following Democrats voted for the rule fast-tracking reconciliation legislation, and we will remind their constituents of their tax and debt record and begin to look to support challengers in the following districts.

According to recent Club for Growth polling.

  • 72% of voters and 61% of Democrats think high taxes are a problem; only 21% of Democrats believe high taxes are not a problem.
  • A total of 64% of voters support, “Ending continuous deficit spending, and requiring that the federal budget be balanced.” A total of 13% oppose. The statement is supported by 49% of Democrats and opposed by 24% of Democrats.
